Churros with Dulce de Leche Filling
These churros take the classic treat to the next level! Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and filled with creamy dulce de leche. A truly irresistible sweet street food experience.
Ingredients
- 1 cup Water
- 1/4 teaspoon Salt
- 1 cup All-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil
- For frying Vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup Sugar
- 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
- 1 cup Dulce de leche
Making the Churro Dough
In a medium saucepan, combine water, salt, and vegetable oil. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Once boiling, remove from heat and immediately add the flour all at once. Stir vigorously with a wooden spoon until a smooth dough forms and pulls away from the sides of the pan.
Piping and Frying the Churros
Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip. Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C). Pipe 4-inch strips of dough directly into the hot oil, cutting the dough with scissors or a knife as you go. Fry for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy. Be careful not to overcrowd the fryer.
Coating with Cinnamon Sugar
In a shallow dish, combine sugar and ground cinnamon. While the churros are still hot, toss them in the cinnamon sugar mixture, ensuring they are evenly coated.
Filling the Churros with Dulce de Leche
Allow the churros to cool slightly. Using a piping bag fitted with a small round tip, or a small knife, carefully poke a hole in one end of each churro. Pipe or spoon dulce de leche into each churro until it is filled. Be careful not to overfill, or the filling will burst out.
Serving
Serve the filled churros immediately. For an extra touch, dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with more dulce de leche. Enjoy!

Other Considerations for Nutrition
The added dulce de leche significantly increases the sugar content. Use a high-quality dulce de leche for the best flavor. Baking the churros instead of frying will reduce the fat content but will affect the texture.
