Ingredients
  • 1 lb Tomatillos
  • 2-3 Serrano Peppers
  • 1/4 White Onion
  • 2 Garlic Cloves
  • 1/2 cup Cilantro
  • 1 tablespoon Lime Juice
  • to taste Salt
  • 1/4 cup Water

Prepare the Tomatillos

Remove the husks from the tomatillos and rinse them thoroughly. Place the tomatillos and Serrano peppers in a saucepan. Add enough water to cover them.

Boil the Vegetables

Bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce heat and simmer for about 10-15 minutes, or until the tomatillos change color to a dull green and are soft but not mushy. The peppers should also be softened.

Blend the Salsa

Carefully transfer the cooked tomatillos and Serrano peppers to a blender or food processor, reserving about 1/4 cup of the cooking liquid. Add the onion, garlic, cilantro, lime juice, and salt to the blender.

Adjust Consistency

Blend until smooth. If the salsa is too thick, add a little of the reserved cooking liquid until it reaches your desired consistency.

Taste and Adjust Seasoning

Taste the salsa and adjust the seasoning as needed. Add more salt or lime juice if desired. Be careful, the salsa can get spicier as it sits.

Chill and Serve

Refrigerate the salsa for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. Serve chilled with tortilla chips, tacos, enchiladas, or your favorite Mexican dishes. Enjoy!
