Prepare the Hot Dogs

Cut each hot dog in half. This makes two 'octopuses'.

Create the Tentacles

On one flat cut side of each hot dog half, carefully cut four slits, going about halfway up the hot dog. Repeat on the other flat side, so you have a total of eight 'tentacles'.

Cook the Octopus

Boil water in a small saucepan. Gently drop the hot dog 'octopuses' into the boiling water. Cook for about 3-5 minutes, or until the tentacles start to curl back and 'bloom'.

Drain and Decorate

Carefully remove the cooked hot dogs from the water and drain them on a paper towel.

Add Eyes

Use a tiny dab of ketchup or mustard to create eyes on the top of the hot dog (the uncut end). Alternatively, use small edible candy eyes.

Alternative - Spaghetti Legs

Boil hot dogs. While still hot insert some spaghetti lines in the hot dog to make funny legs!
