Classic Italian Tiramisu
Indulge in the rich and creamy flavors of authentic Italian Tiramisu. This no-bake dessert is made with layers of coffee-soaked ladyfingers, mascarpone cream, and cocoa powder. A perfect dessert for any occasion.
Ingredients
- 24 Ladyfingers (Savoiardi)
- 1 cup Strong Brewed Coffee
- 16 oz Mascarpone Cheese
- 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar
- 3 Large Eggs
- 2 tablespoons Cocoa Powder
- 2 tablespoons Marsala Wine (Optional)
Prepare the Coffee
Brew a strong cup of coffee and let it cool slightly. If using Marsala wine, stir it into the coffee. This coffee mixture will be used to soak the ladyfingers.
Separate Eggs and Prepare the Mascarpone Cream
Separate the egg yolks from the egg whites. In a large bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and sugar until light and fluffy. In a separate bowl, beat the mascarpone cheese until smooth and creamy. Gently fold the mascarpone cheese into the egg yolk mixture until well combined.
Whip the Egg Whites
In a clean, dry bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the whipped egg whites into the mascarpone mixture. Be careful not to overmix, as this will deflate the mixture.
Assemble the Tiramisu
Dip each ladyfinger briefly into the coffee mixture, making sure not to soak them completely. Arrange a layer of coffee-soaked ladyfingers on the bottom of a serving dish. Spread half of the mascarpone cream mixture over the ladyfingers. Repeat with another layer of coffee-soaked ladyfingers and the remaining mascarpone cream mixture.
Chill and Serve
Cover the tiramisu with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld. Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder.
