Overnight Sausage and Hash Brown Breakfast Casserole
A hearty and flavorful breakfast casserole featuring sausage, hash browns, cheese, and eggs. Perfect for feeding a crowd and can be prepared the night before.
Ingredients
- 1 pound Breakfast sausage
- 30 ounces Frozen hash browns
- 2 cups Shredded cheddar cheese
- 12 Eggs
- 1 cup Milk
- 1/2 cup Diced onion
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1/2 teaspoon Black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon Dried mustard
Prepare the Sausage and Hash Browns
Begin by browning the breakfast sausage in a large skillet over medium heat. Crumble it as it cooks. Once browned, drain any excess grease. In a large bowl, combine the browned sausage and frozen hash browns. Mix well.
Add Cheese and Onion
Add the shredded cheddar cheese and diced onion to the bowl with the sausage and hash browns. Stir everything together until evenly distributed.
Prepare the Egg Mixture
In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, pepper, and dried mustard. Ensure the mixture is well combined.
Assemble the Casserole
Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish. Spread the sausage, hash brown, cheese, and onion mixture evenly in the dish. Pour the egg mixture over the top, making sure to cover all the ingredients. Gently press down on the mixture to ensure everything is submerged in the egg mixture.
Refrigerate Overnight
Cover the baking dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight (or for at least 4 hours). This allows the flavors to meld together.
Bake the Casserole
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Remove the plastic wrap from the baking dish and bake for 45-55 minutes, or until the casserole is golden brown and set. A knife inserted into the center should come out clean. If the top starts to brown too quickly, you can loosely cover it with aluminum foil.
Cool and Serve
Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before cutting into squares and serving. Enjoy!
