Ingredients
  • 1 loaf, cut into 1-inch cubes Brioche bread
  • 8 large Eggs
  • 2 cups Milk
  • 1 cup Heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup Granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 tablespoons, melted Butter
  • for serving Maple syrup
  • for serving (optional) Fresh berries
  • for serving (optional) Powdered sugar

Prepare the Bread

Cut the brioche bread into 1-inch cubes and spread them evenly in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.

Make the Custard

In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.

Soak the Bread

Pour the custard mixture evenly over the bread cubes, making sure all the bread is soaked. Gently press down on the bread to ensure it is fully submerged in the custard.

Refrigerate (Optional)

For best results, cover the casserole dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or overnight. This allows the bread to fully absorb the custard.

Bake the Casserole

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Drizzle the melted butter evenly over the top of the casserole. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the casserole is golden brown and the custard is set. A knife inserted into the center should come out clean.

Serve

Let the casserole cool slightly before serving. Cut into squares and serve warm with maple syrup, fresh berries, and a dusting of powdered sugar, if desired.
