Lemon & Herb Poached Eggs
Elevate your poached egg game with this flavorful twist! This recipe adds a touch of lemon and fresh herbs to create a bright and vibrant breakfast or brunch dish. Perfect for impressing guests or simply treating yourself to something special.
Ingredients
- 2 Large Eggs
- 3 cups Water
- 1 tablespoon White Vinegar
- 1 Lemon Slice
- 1 tablespoon, chopped Fresh Herbs (Parsley, Chives, Dill)
- to taste Salt
- to taste Pepper
Prepare the Infused Water
Fill a saucepan with about 3 cups of water and bring it to a simmer. Add 1 tablespoon of white vinegar and a slice of lemon to the water. This will infuse the eggs with a subtle lemon flavor. You can also add the chopped fresh herbs directly to the water.
Crack the Egg
Crack each egg into a separate small bowl or ramekin. This makes it easier to gently slide the egg into the simmering water without breaking the yolk.
Poach the Egg
Gently slide the egg from the bowl into the simmering water. Cook for 3-5 minutes, depending on how runny you like your yolk. The egg whites should be set, but the yolk should still be soft and runny. If you didn't add the herbs to the water, you can sprinkle them on top of the eggs while they are poaching.
Remove and Drain
Use a slotted spoon to carefully remove the poached eggs from the water. Gently pat them dry with a paper towel to remove excess water.
Season and Serve
Season the poached eggs with salt and pepper to taste. Serve immediately on toast, with smoked salmon, or alongside a green salad. Garnish with extra fresh herbs for a beautiful presentation. Enjoy your Lemon & Herb Poached Eggs!
