Ingredients
  • 1 cup Pure Maple Syrup
  • 1/4 cup Pecans, roughly chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ground Nutmeg
  • 1/8 teaspoon Pinch of Ground Cloves

Toasting the Pecans (Optional)

For a deeper flavor, lightly toast the chopped pecans in a dry skillet over medium heat for 2-3 minutes, or until fragrant. Be careful not to burn them.

Combining Ingredients

In a small saucepan, combine the maple syrup, toasted pecans (if using), cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. Stir well to ensure the spices are evenly distributed.

Simmering

Place the saucepan over low heat. Gently simmer the mixture for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally. This allows the flavors to meld together.

Steeping

Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the syrup steep for at least 20 minutes. You can steep for up to an hour for a more intense flavor. Taste and adjust spices if needed.

Straining (Optional)

If you prefer a smooth syrup, strain it through a fine-mesh sieve lined with cheesecloth to remove the pecan pieces. However, the pecans add a nice texture, so it's optional.

Storage

Pour the infused maple syrup into a clean glass jar or bottle. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
