Duck Pâté Crostini with Orange Zest and Pistachios
A sophisticated appetizer featuring rich duck pâté spread on toasted baguette, complemented by the bright citrus notes of orange zest and the satisfying crunch of pistachios.
Ingredients
- 200 g Duck pâté (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 Baguette
- 1 Orange
- 50 g Pistachios (shelled)
- 2 tablespoons Olive oil
- to taste Salt
- to taste Black pepper
Prepare the Crostini
Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Slice the baguette into thin rounds. Brush both sides of the baguette slices with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. Let cool slightly.
Zest the Orange
Wash the orange thoroughly. Using a fine grater or zester, carefully zest the orange, avoiding the white pith. You should have about 1 teaspoon of orange zest.
Chop the Pistachios
Roughly chop the shelled pistachios. You can use a knife or a food processor for a quicker chop. Be careful not to over-process them into a paste.
Assemble the Crostini
Spread a generous amount of duck pâté onto each toasted baguette slice. Sprinkle with orange zest and chopped pistachios.
Optional Garnish
Drizzle with a touch of extra virgin olive oil and freshly ground black pepper, if desired.
Serve
Arrange the crostini on a platter and serve immediately.
